Guide to the Peaks
If you are heading on a trip to the Peak District, here are some things you need to know! We are assuming you know where you are going, but there are so many great locations to pick out. If you can, spend a couple of days or more exploring, but here are some little tips to help you on your way.
Pack appropriate clothes
Even on a summer’s day, the temperatures in the peaks can change dramatically. Whether it is hot on the ground doesn’t make much different when you start an ascent! Pack clothes that you can layer up and remember that you will get warmer as you walk but that doesn’t mean you won’t need a coat! Practical, we know, but you will thank us later. Another thing to consider is your footwear. Wear something comfy that you can walk in, no one likes a blister on a hike.
Supplies, supplies, supplies!
If you are heading out on a walk, remember to pack snacks and a drink, as you never know how far away you are going to be from a drink of water! It sounds dramatic but it is an error we have seen made too many times.
Lookout for a pub
Less practical but important all the same, in the peaks there are some cracking pubs to stop off at for lunch or dinner, so keep your eyes peeled for traditional and country pubs to rest your feet and refuel!
Take a map with you
Do not rely on a smartphone for your map needs. Whether you print screen it or take an old fashioned paper map with you, the signal is not great so be prepared to be off-grid for the duration of your trip!
There are some tips and we hope you enjoy your trip. If you do need a car to get you there, give us a call or pay us a visit at Noya Motor Group and the team will be on hand to help.
