Which Hot Hatchback Suits Your Personality? NMG - Peterborough
Whether you are upgrading or looking for another toy to satisfy your love for cars, the hot hatchback (or 'hot hatch') today is highly regarded as a top contender in the performance car category. In this blog post, we are going to include three of our current hot hatch's we have in stock that we'd like to compare and help you decide on which one would suit you.
Audi RS3

Let's begin with the infamous Audi RS3. Its glamorous looks and sharp lines make it an eye-catcher to most, but under the bonnet we can find an untamed beast.
Its four-wheel drive Quattro system was revolutionary to any of the current hatchback's in the market. Over time, many things were improved resulting in a better driving experience and a system that is able to handle the 400BHP the 2.5L engine's produce. Its 7-speed DSG gearbox supplies endless revs in each gear which makes you feel as if the car wants to carry on increasing its speed and shifts, effortlessly maintaining a precise gear change. Sounds good right? In reality, the RS3 sounds like it should be built for the track. Well, the German giants have also decided to make it feel like it should be on the track too, throwing in some stunning leather 'bucket' seats to let you both enjoy the ride and stay safely in your seat; couple with a flat bottom steering wheel, this car has an undoubtedly sporty feel. Other specifications include real race-style bucket seats, but of course these come with an extra price tag.
The RS3 is also very modest on tax and fuel economy considering what it has to offer. At £155 a year and a joint MPG of just over 30 miles per gallon, it doesn't force you into filling the tank every couple of hours. It's also family friendly, with it being a five-door vehicle and having a more than satisfactory amount of space. Its ferocious mix of aggressive yet controllable power, unbelievable handling capabilities, and sharp looks make the RS3 more than appropriate for general use and will make you feel secure when putting your foot down. Overall, a nimble all-rounder as a hot hatchback with both class and eagerness to get stuck into some tarmac. This could be perfect for almost any driver, but does lean slightly towards the family man or woman looking for a thrilling yet practical car.
BMW M140i

Next up, BMW's M140i is a car that boasts road presence, and it's honestly hard to miss if it drives by. Its sleek design helps it find its rightful place alongside other German prestige competitors, and we'd be tempted to say it sits at the top of the podium. It offers a slightly larger 3.0L engine, producing a whopping 340BHP and is only manufactured as a 3 door model. Not only that, but its boisterous rear-wheel drive system offers a gripping experience which can potentially be slightly twitchy from time to time, adding endless amounts of fun as a real driver's car. Surprisingly, it costs less to fill up than you'd expect and provides a good fuel economy at 38MPG combined. The interior is also something to appreciate, both in function, style and quality. The M140i's interior feels hand-crafted, adding an extra level of appeal not visible (or expected!) from the outside. It boasts an array of tech features, as well as quality material to support each function. If we're honest, this car looks amazing.
Screaming 'style', the M140i is a lively, adrenaline-fuelled driving experience at a relatively affordable price tag. If you're looking to have a more hands-on encounter behind the wheel, an interior with more gadgets than you could throw a stick at, and to drive in style, the M140i could be the right car for you!
Hyundai i30N

Finally, the Hyundai i30N. Now, the i30N has become a revolutionary piece of kit from the South Korean company. Providing the market with a fresh outlook on hatchback's that hasn't been seen since Honda's Civic Type R, the i30N, first released in 2017, was Hyundai's first entry into the world of 'hot hatch's', and what an entry it is!
The i30N is a very good-looking car, with its Performance Blue colour being a real showstopper. The front wheel-drive hatchback comes with a 2 litre turbocharged engine that's pushing a modest 275BHP. Similarly to its other hot hatch counterparts, it also has a large variety of gadgets in the cockpit, as well as a simple yet stylish interior. It comes with a nice set of 'N' branded calipers in a vibrant red that really stand out against either black or silver wheels too. Not only that, it's great on fuel, it's cheaper to fill, and is also a lot kinder on the insurance rates, making it a great one for both the young and experienced drivers alike.
Furthermore, the i30N also comes in a 5 door model. Some real thought has gone into this sporty little motor from Hyundai. They haven't gone too far or been too hesitant on putting their stamp in the hot hatch community, both in performance and looks. Essentially it's perfect for someone who is just starting out at entry-level in the performance car/hot hatchback world of cars, looking to gain that experience and understanding of what it's like to own one, but yet still for those experienced drivers looking for a reputable and affordable performance car in the current market.
At the end of the day, we might have our favourite, but it's all down to personal preference and your choice of performance car! If you need a little more inspiration on your next motor, take a look at our online showroom today!
